The Obituary
On Wednesday, August 5, 2015, Mary Lee Taylor Thompson traded this earthy life for her new place in glory at her home at 206 Broad Street, Thomasville, North Carolina. She was fifty-six.
Life’s journey for Mary began on Monday, March 9, 1959 in Thomasville, North Carolina. She was born to Odessa Eddy Taylor and to the late Freeman Taylor. She attended the public schools in Davidson County, graduating from Thomasville High School with the Class of 1978. She was last employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant in home healthcare; but, early on Mary had a special love for children that afforded her the privilege of owning her own daycare center — Mary’s Learning Center. She was married to her child-hood sweetheart Jerome P. Thompson, who survives of the home, for thirty-seven years. In addition to her father Mary was preceded in death by two sisters Fannie Feaster and Sylvia Taylor.
Mary was a caring person who loved life and she loved her children and grandchildren. Her pastimes included watching wrestling with her mother, Odessa, while she enjoyed her favorite food—Pizza (with extra Italian sausage). Her favorite color was red. Whenever you saw Mary she always had her hair and nails done, her face made up with a “big fancy” pocketbook in her hand. All who knew her, loved her.
She leaves to cherish loving memories her husband Jerome P. Thompson of the home; children Jerome T. Thompson, Turkessa (Edward) Brown and Dominique Thompson all of Thomasville, NC, her mother Odessa E. Taylor of Thomasville, NC; sisters Patricia (Steve) Price of Fayetteville, NC, Rose (Lewis) King of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Brenda Taylor-Stephenson of Thomasville NC, brothers, Freeman (Rhonda) Taylor, Willie Taylor, Dewaine (Camela) Taylor, all of Thomasville, NC and Leroy (Waynette) Taylor of Lexington, NC; six grandchildren De’Arries, Destiney, La’Quashia, Malasia, Desiree, and Demeteria; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
“With heavy hearts we turn to God to find relief from sorrow,
we pray for strength and courage as we face each new tomorrow—then, from within, we hear a voice that sets our spirits free,
“Be Comforted, live now in faith,
Your loved one is with Me.”
