The Obituary

On Tuesday, September 1, 2015 , Heaven’s gate swung gently open, and the Master called softly, “Enid, Come On Home!” She got her wings. Enid exchanged this earthly life for life eternal while a patient at High Point Regional Hospital.

Enid began her life’s journey on September 9, 1957 in Thomasville, North Carolina. She was born to T. G. McGill and Dora Taylor McGill.

She attended the public schools of Davidson County, graduating from Thomasville Senior High School in 1973. At Thomasville High School, Enid was the first black homecoming queen. In 1977 Enid received a Bachelor’s degree from N. C. A & T State University. And she was employed by Murrow’s Trucking for several years in numerous clerical positions. She was a lifelong member of Brown New Calvary Baptist Church and up until her health failed she served faithfully on the Young Adult Choir. She was a Child of God, and a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and depended on Him. Her most used words were “Oh, Lord!” Enid also loved her dog “Remo”.

In addition to her parent’s Enid was preceded in death by two brothers Todd D. McGill and Thomas G. Morgan and one sister Maggie Jefferies.

Left to cherish in memory is one brother Willie Edward (Dorita) Taylor of Peekskill, NY; niece E’lisia McGill-Wilkes of South Bend, IN and four nephews Jamal Taylor (Saori) of Albany, NY, William Taylor, Sean Taylor both of Peekskills, NY, and Germaine Jefferies of Jacksonville, FL; great nephew Cody Hubbard of South Bend, IN, and three cherished caregivers and cousins, Freelove (Phillip) Coleman, Priscilla (Raymond) Ross, and Tora (James) Glover, six aunts, Lula Mae Jefferies, Lois Rice and Gladys McGill (Robert) all of Thomasville, NC; Rosetta Gillespie (Clayton) of Jamestown, NC; Valarie Smith and Inez Dawkins of Gaffney, SC; one uncle, Johnny McGill (Wanda) of Gastonia, NC and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Special cherished friends are Jonell Hunter and Darlene Barringer of Thomasville, NC. There are other cherished friends that Enid met over the years in the various Assisted Living and Nursing Homes where she lived but far too many to be named.
