The Obituary:

On Wednesday, November 4, 2015 heaven’s gate swung gently open and the Master called softly, “Sarah come home”.

Mrs. Sarah Louise Leach Makupson was born on June 10, 1927 in Gaffney, South Carolina to Rose Leach. She received her early childhood education in the public schools of Cherokee County, South Carolina. In 1944 she married James Makupson Sr., whom the Lord called home in 1982. She was also preceded in death by two sons James Makupson, Jr. and Willie Makupson, and one brother Bishop Jeannette Leach.

At an early age she received Christ; as a servant to God Sarah joined Emmanuel Baptist Church, but later moved and joined Friendship Baptist Church where she faithfully served on the Gospel Choir and attended Sunday School regularly up until her health declined. She retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries following several years of service.

Family and friends will cherish many memories of the life she lived—a loving mother and grandmother who had loved her family; a disciplinarian who had a “real good left hook”; a caring friend and neighbor who visited and cared for many. She was a very good cook who was deemed the “best cake baker in town”. Mrs. Sarah enjoyed singing and styling in her Sunday hats.

She leaves a legacy of love with her four daughters Shirley M. (Willie) Seigle, Mary M. Lattimore, Nancy M. Murray and Rosetta M. Davis all of Thomasville, North Carolina; daughter-in-law Surapee Makupson; one uncle Rev. Hallie (Ruth) Leach, and 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

May God’s light of love surround you,

may your spirit gently soar. . .

To that tranquil place called Heaven

To rest in peace, forevermore.

Humbly Submitted,

The Family
