Life Journey

On February 22, 2016 life’s journey for Lafayette Davis Jr. came to a silent close, transiting from this earthly life to life eternal.

Lafayette was born on October 3, 1945 in Thomasville , North Carolina to the late Lafayette Davis, Sr. and Jennie Harris Davis. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by one brother Melvin Davis, two sisters, Alice Davis and Hilda Sanders Davis, one granddaughter, one great-grandson and one brother-in-law Ulysses Jones.

Lafayette was a graduate of Church Street School, class of 1964. He was an avid reader educating himself on fiction and non-fiction material. When he was not reading you would find him flashing around town on his scooter. He retired from Thomasville Furniture Industry as a finisher supervisor.

“Bubba” will be fondly remembered by his determined and outgoing spirit. He was a devoted father; who natured three girls as a single parent. A loving “Pa Pa”, and a caring brother, a comedian, the “life of the party” - fun to be around, and a proud sport fan of the Carolina Tarheels.

Left to cherish fond and precious memories are three daughters, Carol Davis and Mona Davis both of Thomasville, NC, Cathy Davis of High Point, NC, three sisters, Brenda Jones of Thomasville, Helen (Tyrone) Washington, NC, and Evonne (Darnell) Rubin, NC, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
