The Obituary
On May 15, 1944, God released an angel named Brenda Gibson Johnson to begin her earthly journey. She was born to the late Leroy and Rosa Gibson in Thomasville, North Carolina. To enhance heaven God quietly called Brenda home on Saturday, October 15, 2016.
After receiving her early education from Church Street School in Thomasville, NC Brenda enrolled in Davidson Community College where she received several certificates.
She enjoyed singing, shopping, cooking and traveling but most of her enjoyment in life came from being around family, especially her grandchildren. One would describe Brenda as outgoing, outspoken, dependable and a very strong independent women, which she displayed through her path in life. These qualities awarded her a supervisor position at Thomasville Furniture Industries – Plant C where she was employed for over 40 years.
Planted in her faith Brenda was a member of St. John A.M.E. Zion Church, where she served on the Missionary Board and sang in the choir. Family and friends will fondly remember Brenda singing songs of Zion such as: Rough Side of the Mountain, and Take Me to The King.
She leaves to cherish fond and precious memories to her husband, Marvin Johnson, Sr; their children, Marcus Gibson, Bernard Johnson, Shaquille Johnson and Marvin Johnson, Jr., all of Thomasville, two grandchildren, Darvell (Brittany) Gibson of the home; Mariah Gibson of Thomasville, NC; four great-grandchildren: Darnerian Gibson, Danarius Gibson, Zy’Kera Miles, and Breanna Gibson all of Thomasville, NC; special friends: Sarah Duncan, Annie Broomfield, Patricia Jenkins and John Henry Renwick; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Humbly Submitted,
The Family
