The Journey
Life’s journey for Alice Staton Covert began on July 21, 1941 in Thomasville, North Carolina. She was born to the late Essix and Elease Smith Staton. She attended the public schools of Davidson County. Life’s journey for Alice came to a quiet and peaceful close while she slept on January 29, 2017.
Alice was fondly known as “Polly” by family and friends and was someone who loved life. Polly was a successful homemaker, which extended outside of her home. She enjoyed cooking especially for her family. She loved caring for people young and old. Shopping was a very easy task for Polly, she would always find a great deal on clothes, shoes and perfume. She enjoyed traveling. Some of her favorite places where Washington, DC , New York and Hawaii. Her favorite pastime was watching her soap operas: The Young and the Restless and the Bold and the Beautiful. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Covert, one brother, Amos Staton, three sisters: Diane Wright, Evelyn Staton and Rhonda Statton.
Survivors are two sons: Howard (Veronica) Jackson of Charlotte, NC, and Timothy Dawkins of Gastonia, NC, seven brothers: Cleveland Staton of Thomasville, NC, Frankie Staton, Edward Staton, Ed Staton all of High Point, NC, Johnny Staton amd Wayne Staton both of Los Angeles, CA, Kenny Dingle of Queens, NY; five sisters: Patricia Staton and Brenda Torrence both of High Point, NC, Candie Curry of Gastonia, NC, Tracy Glover of Jamacia, NY, and Carolyn Staton of Los Angelos CA, her best friend and care giver, Karen Foust and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
