Of

James Jones was born on March 21, 1934 to the late George and Mary Kaye Darr Jones in Thomasville, North Carolina. He quietly transitioned on March 1, 2017.

He attended Church Street School prior to starting his career path as a hostler, a cobbler and a custodian engineer where he had the opportunity to work for over 40 years at North Minister Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC.

James was fondly known as “Jimmy” by family and friends who loved people especially babies and children. They would always melt his heart. Jimmy will be remembered for his impeccable dressing style and his suave moves on the dance floor. He was a true fan for the Washington Redskin’s which their paraphernalia was proudly displayed in his home.

After moving back to Thomasville in 2007, Jimmy would enjoy his pastime by shopping for antiques and his tinkling with collection of tools while completing remodeled projects throughout his home.

Proceeding in him in death are his parents and 13 siblings: George W. Jones, Marion Jones, Willis Jones, Charles Jones, Algeron Jones, Phillip Jones, Cecil Jones, Ellen Jones, Helen Bogan, Eva Jones, Mattie Jones Dallas and Demple Jones.

Surviving to share his memories is his daughter, Teresa J. Isaac (Jessie) of Darlington, SC and his son, Timothy Dawkins of Gastonia, NC; three brothers, Aaron Jones, Herbert Ray Jones both of Thomasville, NC and Lamond B. Jones of Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
