Obituary
Jimmy Lee Simmons was born on January 7, 1949 to the late Josh and Lila Brunson Simmons in Summerton, South Carolina. He transited peacefully on March 25, 2017.
He received his early education from the School District No. 1 of Summerton, South Carolina. Shorty after his 20th birthday, Jimmy entered into United States Army as a SP4. Within his 17 years of service he received the Combat Infantry Badge while serving in the Vietnam War, he was also promoted as a sergeant.
Jimmy loved his family, he was a committed brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was very knowledgeable, trivia was his passion. His favorite pastime was reading and fishing. He was an excellent craftsman. He was a man of few words, and no nonsense. He meant what he said, and said what he meant!
Dedicated and determined to change his life for the better Jimmy was able to successfully achieve his goals until the day he died.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his children: Tera (Lee) Mouzone of Lexington, NC, Josh Simmons of Thomasville, NC, Calvin Junious and Corey Bennett of High Point, NC; nine grandchildren: Santara McIntosh, Joshua Simmons, Madison Simmons, Jhung Simmons, Olivia Mouzone, Terran Mouzone, Alanah Larose, Zymere Bennett and Juliana Stephens; one great grandchild, Xzavious McIntosh; five brothers, John (Eleanor) Simmons and Leroy (Mable) Simmons both of Summerton, SC, Josh (Maggie) Simmons, Jr. of Trinity, NC, and Jacob Simmons of Thomasville, NC; three sisters: Ruth (Tyrone) Toland and Evon (Curtis) Yarborough both of Thomasville, NC and Lena Simmons of Kannapolis, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins , other relatives and friends.
