Reflections
Percy Lee Kearns was born on September 3, 1955 to the late William and Daisy Howard Kearns. On Wednesday, March 29, 2017 our Heavenly Father softly called Percy home.
Percy was reared by Colin Lewis and the late Dorothy Lewis in Thomasville, NC. He attended school in the Davidson County school system.
Percy loved the outdoors. He would spend the whole day hunting or fishing. He believed and lived by “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime”. He also enjoyed cars and motorcycles, from model cars to the racing track. Big toys for a big man! He was a great artist, creating decals and graphics for businesses throughout Thomasville. He worked for Austin Printing Company, Winston-Salem, NC as a head printer for several years.
On December 15, 1990, Percy married Silola Taylor Kearns whom proceeded his in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Percy M. Kearns (Tracie) and Zachary Kearns both of Thomasville; one daughter Ebony Kearns of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren DeAnna, DeAndre, DeNise, and Tyrik; three brothers, William Kearns and James (Rachel) Kearns both of Thomasville, NC, Ricky (Audrey) Kearns of Oregon, WA; four sisters, Helen Hayes of Lexington, NC, Lucille Terry of New Jersey, Capatola (Harold) Walker and Sadie Kearns both of Greensboro, NC; his mother-in-law, Sally T. Newton of Darlington, SC; two brothers-in-laws, Monroe (Belinda) Taylor, Jr., and Cleveland Taylor, Sr., both of Darlington, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins , other relatives and friends.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith.
