The Journey
Life’s journey for Dorothy Mae Phifer Saunders began on Wednesday, October 15, 1923 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born to the late Simon Phifer and Lizzie Pearl Dixon Phifer. Dorothy’s journey came to a quiet and peaceful closure on Monday, April 17, 2017. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Sister Dorothy confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She was a member of Brown New Calvary Baptist Church. While being a member of Brown New Calvary Baptist Church Dorothy was a very proud representative of the Usher Board. She enjoyed spending time with family. Dorothy was known as a very active person. She enjoyed working outdoors whether it was mowing the lawn or gardening in her flower bed. When Dorothy wasn't outside appreciating her flowers she was inside baking her delicious cakes for anyone that wanted one. On sunny days Dorothy loved sitting around and knitting homemade gifts for the people that she cared for.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Willie Saunders; one daughter, Hattie Saunders Caldwell.
Survivors to cherish her memories are her granddaughter, Tanya (Eddie) Glenn of Thomasville, NC; two great-grandchildren, Tiffany Glenn (Thomasville, NC) and Kierra Glenn (Charlotte, NC); two great great-grandchildren, London and Peyton Glenn of Thomasville, NC, three special friends: Earlo Gaymon, Wincy Mathis, and Brenda Ellison and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. .
Those we love can never be more than a thought apart,
far as long as there is memory, they'll live on in our hearts.
