Life’s Reflections
Life’s journey for Juanita Elizabeth Caldwell Hare began on February 14, 1940 in Newberry, South Carolina. Juniata was born to the late Sammy Lindsey and Jessie Mae Caldwell Coleman. She slowly transitioned into heaven on October 6, 2017 singing songs of Zion.
Juanita received her early education in the Newberry, South Carolina school system. At an early age she joined Pleasant Gove AME Church where she was an active member until she relocated her family to Thomasville, NC. She raised ten of her own children and countless adopted children. Her career path consisted of being a cab driver for McGuire’s, Department of Environmental Services for Thomasville Medical Center and a linen coordinator for Britthaven Assistance Living.
Known by some as “Ms. Neat” and by others as “Grandma”, Juanita will be fondly remembered as a friendly and vibrant person who loved life. Her heart was full of gold as she would give everything she had to ensure you had enough. If you need a dime she would give you a quarter, if you need a shirt she would give you a suit, and if you need a bed, she would open her home. She loved to travel to New York City, dance and listen to music. She ministered her own life through the lyrics of her music which she sang everyday. She often captured undivided attention by serenading her self-proclaimed songs she called the “Blues”. Friends and family will miss Juanita cracking her jokes on herself or others, spreading her love to everyone she came into contact with and her favorite statement: “Baby, don’t forget my sweet tea!”
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Obie Hare Sr., a son, Calvin Hare, and four siblings; Sara Alice Coleman, Henry Coleman, Jessie Coleman and Carrie Lee Coleman.
Surviving to cherish her memories are her children; Katie (Bobby, Jr.) Poole and Dessie A. Hare both of Thomasville, NC, Bonnie (Terry) Nance of Newberry, SC, Connie Caldwell of Swansea, IL, Conji Tia Hare and Lee (Audrea) Hare both of High Point, NC, Patrick Hare of Salisbury, NC, Obie Hare, Jr. of Greensboro, NC and Tiffany N. Hare of Lexington, NC ; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Eloise Coleman, Lillia Maybin, Dorothy Lassiter, Georgia Mae (James) Caldwell and Ida Mae (Sammie) Williams all of Newberry, SC; two brothers, Johnson Coleman and Roger (Shirley) Coleman both of Newberry, SC and a host of other relatives and friends.
