Life & Legacy

Thomas Prince Steele peacefully answered the call of his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 surrounded by his family. Thomas affectionately known as “Blue” was born on September 18, 1941, in Thomasville, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son; Brian Steele, two sisters Teresa Steele Wilson and Ann Marie Steele. Blue received his education from Church Street School in Thomasville, NC. Shortly after high school he married the love of his life, Mary Fant. They shared a beautiful life filled with love for 54 years. While raising four children, Blue worked in many capacities throughout Thomasville and High Point; NC, he retired from Columbia Panel Manufacturing. Instilling the importance of working hard, Blue always said “nobody like you when you work hard; but you gotta work hard”. Blue’s status and personality would light up the room. He was kind and loving. He referenced himself as “Dark and lovely” and “ I’m little, but tough”; but his heart melted for his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Outside his family he shared his God gifted talents as a coach for more than 25 years. Teaching his young athletes the importance of being versatile and how to adapt to whatever life gives you. He always told them “ Don’t walk on me, be prepared to run’. When Blue was not coaching, he enjoyed quite time on the golf course. He will truly be missed by all. Blue leaves to cherish his memoires, his wife Mary of the home, two daughters: Stephanie (Clifton) Steele and Kimberly (Allen) Davis both of Thomasville, NC, four sons: Jonathan (Noemi) Steele of Raeford, NC, Antonio Steele, Richard Flippin of Thomasville, NC and Stanton McRae of Burlington, NC; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three godchildren: Bruce Dunlap, Shawn Worthy and Kimberly “Jeanine” Lee; one sister Dionne Palmer of High Point, NC, two brothers, Tony Steele of High Point, NC and Odell Steele, Jr., of Charlotte, NC and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
