Obituary
On Sunday evening, November 5, 2017, an angel was dispatched from heaven to transition another solider home in the person of Lula Hazeleene Little Borden. Hazeleene was born on September 15, 1933 to the late Lonnie and Catherine Little. She attended the Anson County School System. She was a faithful member of West Deep Creek Baptist Church for many years.
On February 25, 1956, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Rev. James T. Borden and from this union, seven children were born. The family relocated to Thomasville in 1957 where she joined the Mt. Olive FBH Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. F. N. Mills. She served as Superintendent of the Sunday School, President of the YPI, Mother of the church and Chairperson of the Deacon Board. Her most cherished memory was when her husband received Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Her love for God and her family was displayed in her everyday life. Mother Borden was small in stature but had a gigantic heart for people. “It takes a village to raise a child”. She was that village. Hazeleene was a strong disciplinarian. All children were part of her family. She was the “rock” and a nurturer. Her home was a “meeting” place for those in need. Our loss is heaven’s gain.
In addition to her parents and husband, two siblings preceded her in death.
Surviving to cherish precious memories are four sons, Will F. Borden, Johnny Borden, Ronny Borden ,and Anthony (Michelle) Borden; three daughters, Josephine Borden, Minerva Jenkins and Virginia Borden; eight grandchildren, Kienus (Kellie) Boulware, Shonda Jenkins, Aisha Jenkins, Benjamin (Roberta) Boulware, Calvin Owens, Brandon Borden, Anatoly Love, and Jecorey Tuttle; 17, great grandchildren; adopted son, Lewis McLendon; four brothers-in-law, Luther (Peggy) Borden, Julius (Jennie)Borden, George Borden and Orza Borden; godson, Rev. Ronald (Starra) Daughtridge and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
