Celebration of Life
On Thursday, November 9, 2017, James Watt Ellison was welcomed with open arms into a never ending kingdom. A place where there is no pain or suffering, sickness or disease but a place of peace, joy, happiness and fulfillment and most importantly a place of everlasting life.
James, who was affectionately called “Smokey” by family and friends was born on November 19, 1946 to the late Louis and Maggie James Ellison in Clarendon, South Carolina. Smokey attended Manchester High School in Pinewood, South Carolina.
He was a pool shooter. He loved gardening, fishing, and watching Western movies. He enjoyed days on the race tracks in his 1967 super sport Black Duster. Smokey was gifted with his hands, and expressed it through painting and carpentry. He was a sharp dresser. Rarely would you see him without his hat. He loved his family and was a great provider. His intuition allowed him to discern the needs of the family. Smokey was a former employee of Masonite and Custom Finisher. He retired from Thomasville Furniture, Inc. as a machine operator. Most importantly, he accepted Christ on November 28, 2014 as his personal Savior.
James was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Maggie Ellison Green.
His memories will be cherished by his wife, Christine Green Ellison, daughter , Alisha (David) Mitchell; five sons, James (Demeachdro) Green, Christopher (Tara) Green, Rodney (Amy) Wilder, Dennis (Kimberly) Wilder and Shaquille James. Nineteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; six brothers, Lewis (Patricia) Ellison, William (Brenda) Ellison, Ranson Ellison, Leroy Ellison, Kervin Ellison and Jerry (Felicia) Ellison; five sisters, Lillie (Louis) Lowman, Odell (Charles) Rivers, Hattie Green, Lorene Ellison and Patricia Ellison; a niece who was raised as a sister, Sandra (Bobby) McDuffie; two aunts, Odell Walters and Hattie Caldwell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and friends.
