The Obituary

Evelyn Marie Bell Finney was born June 14, 1956, to Mary Miccicke Yerger in Fort George Mead, MD. On January 6, 2018 she quietly departed this earthly life in exchange to enteral life while a patient at Katie B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem, NC.

Evelyn received her formal education from the Reading County School system in Reading, PA. She later graduated from Reading Technical Community College with a degree in nursing. She was united in holy matrimony to Dayton “Poochie” Finney in 1991 and from this union three daughters were born.

Evelyn was a member of True Temple Outreach Ministry. She loved her family. Her favorite pastime was baking, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles.

Evelyn loved caring for others which she expressed during her 40 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed with Springwood Nursing Home for 16 years; prior to Oak Forest Nursing Home for 24 years.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 26 years, Dayton “Poochie” Finney of the home; four daughters, Teisha Bell, Reading, PA, Tamara Kallay, Jessica Finney and Michaela Finney all of Winston Salem, NC, stepdaughter, Mellissa Saylor of New York, NY; 14 grandchildren, three of whom were reared by her— Andrew Gordon, Isaiah Kallay and Reuben Pledger, IV; her mother, Mary Miccicke Yerger of Reading, PA; three sisters, Barbara Holt and Kathy (David) McCoy both of Reading, PA and Alecia Bell of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, Frankie Bell and Joseph Bell both of Reading, PA, two sisters-in-law, Evangelist Shirley (Apostle Wallace) Gaither and Selma Long both of Winston-Salem, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
