The Obituary

Willie Moses Durant was born on July 12, 1960 to the late James Ben and Carrie Huggins Durant. “Moses” as he was affectionately known to family and friends was reared in Clarendon County, Pinewood, South Carolina.

He attended the public school of Clarendon County, SC before moving to Thomasville, NC where he graduated from Thomasville Senior High School, class of 1979. He was employed with Hardee and Thomasville Furniture Industries, Plant D, for many years.

Moses was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Senior Usher Board and a member of the Singles Ministry until his health declined. Even in poor health he remained dedicated and faithful to his faith.

He departed this earthly life on January 11, 2018. While here he enjoyed traveling, being around his family, and participating in family gatherings. Moses also enjoyed taking care of his plants and flowers and was known for his green thumb. He was a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan!!

Moses leaves to cherish his fond memories his fiancé, Ms. Sandra Hughes, of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Sara Green and Dianne Durant both of Thomasville, NC; three brothers, Thomas (Rebecca) Durant, David (Sheila) Durant, and James Durant all of Thomasville, NC, and a special nephew, Franklin (Janesta) Warley, two nieces, Aletha Warley, Sandra (Kenneth) Ragin both of Thomasville, NC, one uncle, Vernell (Thelma) Durant of Pinewood, SC; three aunts, Willie Mae Jefferson of Vance, SC, Pearl Lane of Philadelphia, PA, and Maggie Durant of Pinewood, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and a very special friend and caretaker, Mrs. Sharlene Chestnut of Thomasville, NC.

Prayerfully Submitted,

The Family
