Life’s Journey

Ms. Imogene Browner was born on March 25, 1937 in Commerce, Georgia to the late John Browner, Sr. and Bertha Prickett Browner. Her earthly life came to a close on Friday, March 9, 2018 in the Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.

After the death of her parents, “Ima” as she was affectionately called by her family, moved to Thomasville at an early age with her sister Inez and brother in law, Joe Henry Collins. She and her brothers, Paul, Samuel, John, Jr. and her sister Bertha were raised in a loving home by Inez and Joe Henry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Inez, Alter Wilson, Annie Ruth Booker, brothers, Samuel and John Jr., and brothers in-law, Joe Henry, William Wilson and Johnnie Booker.

Imogene attended Church Street School, graduating in 1956. After graduation, she attended Winston-Salem Teachers College, which is now Winston-Salem State University. She was a former employee of Carolina Manufacturing Company, Thomasville, NC and Adams Millis, High Point, NC, retiring in the 1990’s.

Imogene will be remembered for her love for her family and her “sweet tooth”. She was a homebody who enjoyed keeping her home immaculate. She also enjoyed reading, watching the news on television and before her health declined, working in her yard planting beautiful flowers.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories one brother, Paul Browner of Piquas, Ohio, three devoted nieces, Johnnie Maria (James) Kirkland, Gwendola Traynham both of Thomasville, NC, and Beverly (Dwight) Jones of Virginia Beach, VA; and a hosts of nephews, other nieces, relatives and friends.

Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same But as God calls us one by one The chain will link again.
