The Obituary
On January 1, 1948, God released an angel named Ruby Lewis Whitsett to begin her earthly journey. She was born to the late William Dolin and Beatrice Hoskins Lewis in Thomasville, North Carolina. To enhance heaven God quietly called Ruby to her eternal home on Sunday, March 25, 2018.
Ruby received her education in the Davidson County school system, she graduated from Church Street in 1966. A few years later, Ruby married the love of her life, Wesley Norris Whitsett, Sr. on July 3, 1968. They have been happily married for almost 50 years, and from blissful union two children were born.
Ruby enjoyed crocheting, she would make any and everything. Her true passion was writing; she would write poems and short stories for others to enjoy. But most of her enjoyment in life came from being around family, especially her grandchildren. Ruby was also a collector, she loved to collect pictures of her family members and placed would them all over her house.
Ruby was a seamstress by profession, in 2013 she retired from S.S. Samples. After retirement she continued to work . Family and friends will fondly remember Ruby as a loving woman, and one who loved to serve the Lord.
Planted in her faith Ruby was a member of Bethel Tabernacle Holiness Church, where she served on the Usher Board, sang on the Praise Team, was the treasurer of the church and also was the Superintendent of the Sunday School. She was an executive member of the Evangelical Holiness & Missionary Association ( E.H.M.A.) .
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Alex Western, one sister, Ethel Fant, two brother, Rev. William Lewis and Rev. David Lewis.
