Her Journey
On Sunday, early in the morning of August 12, 2018, Ellen Veronica Truesdale peacefully made her transition into life everlasting and Christian victory was declared. Our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and loyal friend was born on December 4, 1950 to Isaac Sr. and Mary Gertrude Truesdale in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
“Ronnie or Veronica” as she was affectionately known by was a graduate of the Durham Public School system. Realizing the importance of Christ in her life, Ronnie accepted Christ at an early age. Her church membership consisted of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Union Baptist Church and St. Joseph CME Church. She was known as a pray warrior. Veronica called 1-803-578-1800 on a daily basic praying for all her family; calling out each of their names.
During her life’s journey, Ronnie was employed by Hecht’s Department Store, UNC Hospital, This End Up Furniture and Cabrera’s Preschool. Her passion was taking care of others. She cooked for the Veterans, cleaned for the disable, and provided for the less fortune. In 2016, after hurricane Matthew, she orchestrated a fifty-three foot truck full of cleaning supplies for hurricane victims. Her heart was as rich as gold. Simple things were her greatest pleasure – family, cooking, shopping and traveling.
In addition to her parents, her brother, Isaac Truesdale, Jr, two sisters, Donna McLendon and Johnnie Mae Truesdale Wheeler proceeded her in death.
Surviving relatives whose lives were enriched and touched by her life in a special way includes her children: Tonya (Fred) Hunter, Yolanda (Devon, Sr.) Williams, Michelle (Joseph, Sr.) Eady and Tory (Tamika) Truesdale all of Durham, NC, Tony Truesdale and Calvin (Clara) Smith both of Pittsboro, NC; 12 grandchildren, Nichole Ferrell, Ashley Truesdale, Sharna Hunter, Devonada Hunter, Makla Thompson, Alexandria Truesdale, India Williams, Joseph Eady, Jr., Tory Truesdale, Jr., Lauryn Eady, Devon Williams, Jr., and Tyler Truesdale; a great granddaughter, Armonie Ferrell; a soon-to-be great grandson, Sir Harlen Truesdale; a grand dog , Jace Truesdale, sister, Ann Taylor, brother, David Truesdale both of Washington, DC; an aunt, Ruth Farrington; countless extended children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous judge,
shall give me at that day…”
2 Timothy 4: 7-8
