Obituary

Julius William Skeen was born on January 23, 1942, to the late Ira and Catherine Bohannon Skeen in Thomasville, North Carolina.

On September 17, 2018, after 76 years, his earthly life came to a close after declining health of several years.

“JW” as he was known to many received his formal education at Church Street School in Thomasville, NC. He then moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he spent most of his adult life. He retired after 30 years of service as a fork lift operator for a brick yard company in Baltimore.

He returned to Thomasville in 2008 where he rededicated his life to the Lord at Cornerstone Church of Christ. In his leisure time, he enjoyed walking from sunrise to sunset through the Thomasville community: Monkeez Brewz, T’ville Diner, Tommy’s Barbecue and many other local eateries. He loved listening to music and giving praise to the Lord.

Affectionately known as JW, Uncle J and Julius he will fondly be remembered by his family for his great sense of humor, energetic walking sprees, free-hearted and genuine spirit and strong-willed mindset. He loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ronald Skeen, Shirley Taylor, Catherine Smith, Joan Gillis, Diann Hoggard and Daynise Skeen.

Loving and fond memories will be cherished by: his daughters, Wanda and Julie Skeen, both of Baltimore, MD and son, Sammy Skeen of Baltimore, MD; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; sister, Patricia Bolton of Thomasville, NC; brothers, Tony Skeen (Fannie) and Travis Skeen (Sarah), all of Thomasville, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
