Obituary

William Ellison peacefully departed this earthly life for eternal life on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. He was born on March 1, 1948 in Rimini, South Carolina to the late Louis and Maggie James Ellison.

He attended school in Pinewood, South Carolina. In 1966 he relocated to Thomasville North Carolina. To pursue other career opportunities. He loved working with his hands and received a Brick Mason Certificate from Davidson County Community College. He was a brick mason and carpenter. He was employed at Component Concepts, Inc. in Thomasville, North Carolina where he retired in 2008.

He loved current events so he spent a lot of his free time watching CNN. His favorite football team was the Pittsburg Steelers. William was an encourager to all - young as well as old. He was known throughout the city as “Mr. Ellison the Handy Man”. Him and his white dump truck. William was a kind, loving, trustworthy and hardworking man. He would give his last so that a fellow man could receive more. His motto was “No work – No pay” and “God gave us two ears and one month so that we could listen more and talk less”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Watt Ellison and one sister, Maggie Ellison Green.

Left to cherish his precious memories is his loving and devoted wife, of 48 years, Brenda Canty Ellison; two sons, William Reginald Ellison and William Maurice (Linda) Little; two grandchildren, William Maurice Little Jr. and Shakira Little; five brothers, Lewis (Patricia); Ranson Ellison, Levi Ellison, Kervin Ellison and Jerry (Felicia) Ellison; five sisters, Lillie (Louis) Lowman, Odell (Charles) Rivers, Hattie Green, Loreneia Ellison, and Patricia Ellison; a niece and nephew who were reared in the home, Sandra (Bobby) McDuffie and Michael Green; two aunts, Odell Walters and Hattie Caldwell; his mother-in-law, Julia Lang Canty; eight sisters-in-law, Christine Green Ellison, EmmaLee Taylor, Rebecca Crosby, Barbara (Moses) Dubose, Jarnell Dubose, Carolyn (Brooks) Thomas, Roberta Barnes, and Christine Wilder; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends.
