Obituary

Cortez Lamar Williams was born on July 6, 1991 to the parents of Mary Scott Brooks and Darrell Williams in Thomasville, North Carolina. He quietly departed this life on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 while surrounded by family in Atlanta, Georgia.

Cortez was a very loving, caring, spiritual, humble and compassionate person. He loved and cherished his family. Cortez was the center of his family. Family members naturally gravitated toward Cortez for guidance, he often changed his role to inspire and guide them. He was full of wisdom, well beyond his years. Most importantly he share the meaning of love. Cortez never complained and was always eager and willing to share generously. Family and friends will remember him as that person who would go the extra mile to help, support or inspire you with anything you needed. Cortez never met a stranger and was loved by everyone.

Planted in his faith, Cortez was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Thomasville, North Carolina and The Vision Cathedral of Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia. His ministry talent was singing the gospel. He will be remembered for serenading “Safe In His Arms”, and his inspiring messages to encourage and uplift everyone.

At a young age Cortez had a sincere desire to become a chef. He loved to cook. He knew to win a person’s heart is through their stomach. Once you ate Cortez’s food, he gotcha! After graduating in 2010 from Thomasville High School, in Thomasville, North Carolina, he presumed a career in cutlery. He attended The Arts Institute of Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina, specializing in bakery. Later he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he was employed as a chef for Cheesecake Bistro.

His memories will be lovingly cherished by his mother, Mary (Tim) Brooks of Thomasville, NC; his father, Darrell (Vicki) Williams of Greensboro, NC, five sisters: Dominque Lindsay, Seccori Green, Sandra Burch, Chamarra Clark and Mitzie Stafford; four brothers: Maurice Williams, Malachi Williams, Kierre Lindsay and Percy Dupree; god- parents, Mr. & Mrs. James McKnight and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
