The Journey

Nathan Elmo Fries was born on September 30, 1965, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late Elmo and Eva May Fries. He rose to meet his Savior on November 23, 2018.

In 1988, Nathan was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Julia Dallas Fries. From this union, three children were born: Tatshanua, Stanchez, and Jasmine. Planted in his faith he joined Cornerstone Church of Christ. His ministries were the Brothers Club and the Usher Board. Nathan worked and retired from Sonoco Recycling with 34 years of service.

Family and friends will remember Nathan for his kindness and his willingness to help others, always lending a helping hand. Nathan had a strong passion for coaching! He coached girls basketball for 20 years; which allowed him to travel all over the world and the opportunity to meet a lot of fascinating people. Nathan’s impact on the basketball community will forever leave a lasting imprint.

In addition to his parents, Nate was preceded in death by his two brothers; Earl and Dennis Fries.

Nathan leaves to cherish his wonderful memories: his wife, Julia Fries of the home, three children; Stanchez Dallas, Tatshanua Dallas both of the home, and Jasmine Fries of Thomasville, NC; five grand-children Eymonie Dallas, Brianna Dallas, Jayden George, Madison George, and Lyric George; three sisters, Cathy Fries of Chester, VA, Arlene and Sofia Fries both of Winston-Salem, NC; four brothers; Glenn Fries of Newport, VA, Wayne Fries, Ronald Fries, and Christopher Fries all from Winston-Salem, NC; two god-children, Christina Caeser, and Evander Davis, Jr., two aunts, Wilma Fries and Francine Smith and one uncle, Bobby Fries and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

I Am Free

Don’t grieve, for me I am free

I am home in Heaven dear ones;

Oh, so happy and so bright ,

There is a perfect joy and

beauty in the everlasting light,

All the pain and grief is over,

Every restless tossing passed;

I am now at peace forever,

Safely home in Heaven at last

I love you all but I AM FREE!!!
