7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Willie Anne Owens Saunders was born on November 24, 1957, in Greenville, South Carolina to Clayton Owens, Sr., and the late Carrie Bell Williams Owens. Her earthly journey came to a quiet closure on Thursday, February 21, 2019, while a patient in Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

“Willie Anne” as family and friends called her will always remembered by her vibrant personality, outgoing, strong will, her strength to fight and always caring for others. She was a very joyful person, always joking and sharing a laughter. She was blessed with the gift of cooking, and she enjoyed feeding people. Reading, crossword puzzles and traveling were some of her hobbies. She will be missed by all those who path she crossed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, and sister, Betty Turner.

Surviving to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Carolyn Owens and Tammy Owens both of Thomasville, NC, and Zertia Saunders of Durham, NC, two step-daughters, Sanovia Bennett and Mani’ Bennett both of Durham, NC, two grandchildren, Tiasyah Ingram and Darrieus Slade both of Greensboro, NC, three sisters, Saundra Owens of Thomasville, NC, Dorothy Mae (Robert) Livingston of Greensboro, NC, and Sarah Owens of Highpoint, NC, two brothers, Clayton Owens, Jr., and James Robert Owens both of Thomasville, NC and a long life companion, Michael Bennett and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
