Her Journey

Life’s journey for Bernadette Blair Shaw Young began on May 20, 1958 in Thomasville, North Carolina. Her parents were the late Wick Blair Sr. and Lizzie Mae Reid Blair. Her eternal journey began on March 13, 2019.

She graduated from Thomasville Senior High School with the class of 1976. She continued her education and earned her certification for nursing assistance N2 from St. Louis, MS, licenses as a certified medical coder, licenses as a certified nail technician from Crums Beauty School in Manhattan, KS, and a certified (CPR) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation instructor. She also she earned her licenses as an Ordain Minister under the leadership of Apostle James Cater, and Bishop George B. Jackson from Cornerstone School of Theology in 2007.

“Bonnie” as friends and family fondly called her was full of life. She will always be remembered for her outgoing personality. In 1966 she was crowned as Little Miss Carve Park, which she still holds the title today! Bonnie was a former member of the Eastern Star Daughter of Rose of Sharon and the Elks club.

Bonnie leaves a legacy of love to her brother Wick Blair, Jr. of Thomasville, NC, a sister, Reola Hall of St. Louis, MS, three nephews, Omar (Teresa) Blair, Tracy (Arleen) Blair and Michael Freeman, a niece, Stacy (Greg) Johnson, four great nephews, Omar Blair, Jr., Gregory Johnson, Jr., Brandon Blair and Jayden Blair, three great nieces, Omara Blair, Samonte Johnson and Morgan Blair, two step-children (from her late husband, Jimmie Young) Ventra and Jimmie Young, III, friends from the heart, Ruby and Alfonzo Billie, Willie Ann Jenkins, Gloria McCullough, Mary “Sweetie” Knotts, Phyllis and A.B. Bryant, Lenetta Johnson, Tonya and Ira Gillis, and Mary Livingston, very special people in the heart as my brothers, Kelly Hunt and Robert Davis and a host of other relatives and friends.
