The Obituary

Loretta Stukes was born to Mother Annie Pearl Stukes and the late Deacon John Quincy Stukes, Sr., on November 17, 1957 in Sumter, South Carolina.

She was educated in the Davidson County school system; graduating from Thomasville High School with the Class of 1976. She furthered her education at Davidson County Community College and took online classes at Post University majoring in Early Childhood Development.

She was united in holy matrimony to Harry L. Pendergrass on February 14, 1995.

Loretta was employed at Thomasville Furniture Industry, Plant L, manager of Jackson Hewitt Tax Service in Thomasville, High Point and Lexington. In 2005, she retired from Springette Embroidery in Kernersville.

Her favorite song was “God Did It”. Her hobbies were computer games, writing poetry and traveling. She was a warm, soft spoken, kindhearted and caring person.

Loretta was a member of Zion Tabernacle F.B.H. were she was a former member of the Youth Zionnettes and Young Adult Choir. She served as Secretary of the Missionary Department (known as the Sisters of Charity).

She was preceded in death by her father, Deacon John Quincy Stukes, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Collis Stukes of Asheboro, NC, her mother Annie P. Stukes of Thomasville, NC two sisters, Julia Ann Tillman, of Raleigh, NC, and Annie Faye Kearns of High Point, NC; two brothers John Q. Stukes, Jr. of Thomasville, NC, and John Richburg of Rocky Mount, NC; one granddaughter, Adrianna Stukes (raised as a daughter) of the home; four aunts, Sue Hunt of Charlotte, NC, Shirley Protho of Sumter, SC, Marguerite Conyers of Rock Hill, SC and Bernice Wright of Florida; two uncles, George (Ella) Parker of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Minister Bernell (Dorothy) Mickens of Thomasville, NC; three nieces, Porsha Cox, Tina Coleman, Tara Coleman; four nephews, Jerrod Stukes, Jonathan Tillman, Brandon Stukes, and Cameron Lindsay and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and church family.
