On Thursday, May 30, 2019, William Michael Leak transitioned from his earthly life to life eternal while a patient in Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Michael’s earthly journey began on March 1, 1955 in Thomasville, North Carolina. He was born to Lessie Gray Liles and to the late Lee Matthew Leak. He attended the public schools in Davidson County graduating in 1973 from Thomasville Senior High School; where he remained a “Bulldog” fan. He was a faithful member of Brown New Calvary Baptist Church. Michael was employed and retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries after 30 years of service. He was also a devoted employee of S. E. Thomas Funeral Service.
Michael was a dedicated, dependable and delightful person. He was well known in Thomasville, High Point, and Lexington areas. He was awarded 2012 Chairman Unselfishly Person from the City of Thomasville. He also received several awards from Rely for Life. Family and friends will remember Michael as detail orientated, a historian and full of wisdom, who could remember everything. To know him was to love him. We will miss him saying “What’s going on …..”.
He was proceeded in death by his father and two brothers, Fulton Leak and Johnny Leak. Michael is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Lessie Leak; two sisters, Vanessa Leak of Charlotte, NC and Elaine Skeen of Thomasville, NC; one brother, Francis Leak of Thomasville, NC, a gracious caregiver, Mary Nesbittt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
