Obituary
In the early morning of Thursday June 27, 2019, Lamond Bernard Jones was called to his heavenly home. Awaiting him was his parents; Mary-Kate and George Jones. He’s also once again united with the love of his life, Margaret Jones. Lamond is able to be with his pride and joy his granddaughter, Lashawn Jones. He also reunites with his brothers and sisters; Charles Jones, Phillip Jones, George Jones, Marion “ Spann” Jones, Willis Jones, Algeron “Al” Jones, Cecil Jones, James “Jimmy” Jones, Eva Jones, Helen Bogan, Mattie Dallas, Peggy Jones and Mammie Jones all that preceeded him in death.
Lamond was born in Thomasville, North Carolina. He attended and graduated from the Thomasville public school system. He married Margaret Gainey Jones and relocated to Washington, D.C. for several years. After which he moved to Virginia where he worked and lived out his remaining years.
Lamond was a strong and humble man, who's hard work ethics provided comfort to his family and friends. He made incredible contribution to every place and person that he worked with. Many would say he never met a stranger. Lamond took no credit when credit was due to him, instead he delighted in what he could do for others. While he always loved to joke and to tease, he was always ready to lend a helping hand. He also loved dancing, listening to music and taking late evening strolls which he enjoyed until his illness.
Photography was one of his passions he loved taking photos of others. Lamond would shy away when he seen others pointing a camera at him. Positive and supportive would be the best way to describe him. Lamond took great joy in his loving wife, his daughter, his grand-daughter and his great-grand children. Family was everything to Lamond, as he was everything to his family.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Recileant Jones of Fredericksburg, VA; two great-grand children Dennis-Malachi and Anaysha both of Washington, DC. His extended children and their children; two brothers Herbert Ray Jones and Aaron Jones both of Thomasville, NC, countless nieces and nephews along with other family members and friends will rejoice when they think of him.
