Mrs. Beverly Ann Harris passed away in Charlotte, North Carolina at UNC Atrium Hospital on July, 17, 2019.
Mrs. Harris was born on February 9, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Sara Brewer and the late Joseph Perkins. She was raised by her grandmother, Gertrude Brewer.
“Pepper” as she was known by family and friends attending Hamilton Elementary and A.H. Parker High School where she majored in English, Arts (dance, music, acting) and graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1959.
After graduating, she moved to New York, where she met Wallace Harris. They married in December 1960, from this union five children were born.
Although as a wife and stay at home mother, Beverly worked various jobs throughout the years, from mailroom clerk, bank teller to working as a secretary until her retirement in the early ‘90s.
In 2005, Mrs. Harris moved back to Birmingham, Alabama. In 2016 she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina; in between though years and her last years on earth, Beverly spent time on her poetry, spoken words and , her paintings and drawings. She also had a love and passion for music (all genres) and cooking with exotic recipes.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Surviving to cherish her precious memories are her children, Faith McKnight of Winston-Salem, NC, Wallis Harris of Brooklyn, NY, Joy Harris of Charlotte, NC, Allen Harris of New Rochelle, NY and Brian Harris of Queens, NY; seven precious grandchildren, Stephen Wilder, Antoine McKnight, Ashley (Jeremy, Sr.) Harris-Carter, Kiera Harris, Shanna Harris, Tyra Merritt and Caleb Mallory; one great-grandson, Jeremy Carter, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
