Her Journey
Life’s journey for Mrs. Sally Ann West began on November 21, 1932 in Pinewood, South Carolina. She was born to the late Henrietta Thomas West and Abraham West, Sr.
Sally was educated in Clarendon County school system and graduated from Manchester High School, class of 1953. She later moved to Thomasville, NC where she worked at Carolina Underwear and retired with over 30 years of exceptional service.
Planted in her faith Sally was a devoted Christian and always put her faith and strength in God. She was united in holy matrimony to the late B.W. Thompson for 29 years, and from this union five children were born.
As a loving and gentle woman, Sally found peace in the comfort of her home and family. She valued the tranquility of a quiet life where she enjoyed cooking, baking, and watching her stories, especially the Young and the Restless. Sally was also a lifelong gardener who loved to planted and tended to her flower garden. Family and friends will forever miss the phone calls from Sally and hearing her voice on the other end.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons; Bernie Thompson and Nathaniel Thompson, one sister; Dorothy Mae Martin, four brothers; Johnnie Lee West, Abraham West, Jr., Talmadge West and Bobby Lee West.
On Friday, August 16, 2019 God dispatched angels to Hinkle House in Lexington, NC to the bedside of his servant, Sally Ann Thompson to accompany her home.
Though her physical presence is no longer with us, we are yet strengthened by her spiritual presence. Surviving to cherish her precious memories are two daughters, Beatrice Swanson and Sylvia (Marvin) Thompson both of Thomasville, NC; one son James R. Thompson of Thomasville, NC; 9 precious grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Minnie Ida West of Far Rockaway, NY and Juanita (John) Levy of Pinewood, SC; one brother, Frank West of Ahoskie, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
