The Obituary

Gary Ellis Gannaway, Sr. earthly journey began on November 13, 1960 in High Point, North Carolina. He was born to the late Bobby and Mary Gibson Gannaway. He attended the Guilford County school system graduating from Andrews High School with the Class of 1978.

Gary was employed with Thomasville Built Buses. Planted in his faith Gary was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church. He was a proud member of the Male Chorus.

Outgoing, vibrant, and loving are a just a few words that describe Gary. He was also a family oriented man. His family was everything to him. Gary loved to talk to people and people loved to talk to him. His favorite sport was football, especially the San Francisco 49ers. But nothing compared to his beloved Tarheels. Michael Jordan was his favorite player and designer, if it didn’t have a “jumpman” on it he would not wear it. Everyone will miss Gary standing on his front porch being the neighborhood watch.

On Monday, September 16, 2019, Gary transitioned from this earthly life to life eternal. Heaven’s gate awaits Gary as he is being greeted by his parents, one daughter, India Gannaway and one sister, Donna Gannaway.

Gary is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 19 years, Cassandra Gannaway, three daughters, Tiffany Gannaway of Spartanburg, SC, Gabrielle Gannaway of Charlotte, NC and Miracle Gannaway of the home; three sons, Ryan Gannaway of High Point, NC, Gary Gannaway, Jr. of Thomasville, NC, and Dakota Bratcher of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Sonya Gannaway of High Point, NC; one brother, Steven Gannaway of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren; Braylon Williamson and Makayla Hawes; a goddaughter; Kelcei Burke of High Point, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
