Her Legacy
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and loyal friend, Ann Durant was born on July 26, 1952 to the late James B. Durant and Carrie Huggins, in Pinewood, South Carolina. In her early years she attended the Clarendon County public school systems. Determined to set an excellent example for her family, she return back to school. In 2012, as class’s salutatorian she received her General Education Diploma.
Ann was fondly known as “Dianne” by family and friends. She had a very vibrant personality, one that would take over the whole room. Everyone gravitated to her! Never meeting a stranger, Diane loved everybody. She loved helping people, her giving nature guided her to volunteer and help at the homeless shelter in Lexington, NC. Dianne had a gift for supporting, and encouraging you with her words of wisdom and inspiration. She also had an entrepreneurial spirit, she could do anything that she put her mind to, from running self-made businesses to working as a certified nursing assistant. Her go-getter attitude made a huge impact on her daughters’ lives. Family and friends will always remember her unique style for fashion. She was a true fashionista!
Planted very strong in her faith, Dianne accepted God as her Lord and Savior. Joining the Friendship Baptist Church family. Dianne served on many boards within the church such as, being the president of the Pastor’s Aide, usher board, a teacher for Sunday school, and singing in the Woman’s Choir for Women’s Day. Serving as a faithful servant of God Dianne was very active within the church.
Whenever she had time, Dianne would go and visit her extended family in South Carolina. During her free time Dianne would be outside tending to her garden, and cooking in the kitchen, if anything she could and would feed you. She will forever be known as a hard worker, independent, faithful, and a selfless strong woman.
In addition to her parents, Dianne was proceeded in death by her two brothers, Raymond Durant and Willie Durant.
On Saturday, November 23, 2019, God quickly and peacefully dispatched His angels to 601 Cox Avenue in Thomasville, NC. Dianne Durant transitioned from her earthly life to life eternal to accompany His Servant and now saint “Home” to be with Him.
Dianne leaves to cherish her incredible legacy are her two daughter, Sandra (Kenneth) Ragin and Quanda Wilson both of Thomasville, NC; three grandchildren, Quentin Ragin of Orlando, FL, Kenae Ragin and Kendrick Ragin both of Thomasville, NC; one sister, Sarah Green of Thomasville, NC; three brothers, Thomas (Rebecca) Durant, James C. Durant, and David (Shelia) Durant all of Thomasville, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
