The Obituary
George Clifford Morris was the first born to the union of the late Hubert and Recie Lee Morris on August 24, 1934 in Jackson County, Georgia. He departed this life on February 6, 2020 at the Novant Health Huntersville Hospital in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
Soon after graduating from high school, he moved to Thomasville, North Carolina where he enlisted and proudly served in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged in 1957, he married his beautiful wife of over 61 years, Adell Williams Morris of Wilson, North Carolina.
George joined Brown New Calvary Church at an early age where he enthusiastically served the Lord in several positions including president of the usher board, church bus driver and participated in numerous committees and other church initiatives as long as his physical health permitted.
He was formally employed as a furniture/upholstery label maker and regionally delivered for Wrights of Thomasville until he formally retired. As he was no stranger to hard work, during this same time period, George also owned his Office Cleaning and Lawn Care businesses for over 20 years serving the Greensboro, High Point and Thomasville communities. He was well and affectionately known for his yellow and green John Deere tractor and for wearing a safari hat that always provided shade for his infectious smile.
George is preceded in death by his sisters: Mrs. Anna Lois Pittman, Ms. Patricia Ann Morris, Mrs. Garnell M. Smith and brothers: Mr. Willie Jerry Morris, Mr. Freeman Dwight Morris and Mr. Paul Edward Morris and surviving wife Mrs. Betty Morris of Carnesville, Georgia.
Surviving relatives to treasure and cherish his memory includes: Mrs. Adell Morris of the home, two daughters: Mrs. Darlene Morris-Johnson of the late Selwyn Oniel (Atlanta, Georgia); Mrs. Jewel Lynn Beasley and husband Mr. James Robert (Thomasville, North Carolina) and two sons: Mr. Clifford Dale Morris and wife Brenda Harris Morris (Thomasville, North Carolina) and Mr. Gregory Scott Morris and wife Andreina Zimmerman Morris (Charlotte, North Carolina); 6 grandchildren: Tyangye (MiMi) Smith, Danielle Beasley, Kristina and Kristopher Johnson and Gabrielle and Hayley Morris; three great grandchildren; one brother: Mr. Harold James Morris and wife Patricia Morris (Carnesville, Georgia) as well as a host of other beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
