Juliette Dean Kirkland was born January 23, 1946 in Thomasville, North Carolina to the late Tom Dean and Rena Bell Eller. Juliette was educated in the Thomasville City School System with the Class of 1964. Afterward Juliette worked and retired from Hosiery Mill.
Juliette was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. She loved life and always wanted to live it to the fullest. When she wasn’t outside sitting on the pouch with her precious dog Rocco or tending to her garden planting her beautiful flowers, Juliette was inside watching politics on CNN. Juliette was a social butterfly, she loved people and everyone loved her, Juliette was very close to all of her servicemen and the mailman. Juliette enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, cooking, baking cakes, and traveling. Her favorite place to travel to was Disney World. She was an organizer, Juliette was very involved in her class reunion festivities. Her dedication for activism and politics lead Juliette to be a part of the March on Washington D.C. Family and friends will miss Juliette’s adventurous spirit, but the hummingbirds are going to miss having a gracious and lively neighbor to sing praises.
Deeply rooted in her faith, Juliette was an avid member of First Baptist Missionary Church until her health declined. Serving, praising, and loving the Lord was very near and dear to her heart.
On Tuesday, March 17, 2020, life’s earthly journey for Juliette Dean Kirkland came to a quiet close at High Point Medical Center in High Point, North Carolina, where eternal journey began.
Juliette was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Claudette McKnight.
Surviving to cherish fond and precious memories of her are three son; Rodney (LaToya) Kirkland of High Point, NC, Dion (Rhonda) Kirkland and Jeffrey (Tanisha) Kirkland, Sr. Four grandchildren; Kierra, Shalise, Jeffrey Jr., and Tarik and four great-grandchildren; an adopted daughter, Sharron Emanuel of Thomasville, NC; one sister, Priscilla (James) Williams of Thomasville, NC and one brother, Robert (Lou) Smith of Temple Hills, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
