Obituary

Sometimes God picks the flower that are still in full bloom; sometime the rosebud’s chosen we feel He’s picked too soon. Sometime the flower is fading with petals floating down, but God know the perfect time to gather flower from the ground. There is a heavenly garden in which God takes great pleasure because He’s placed within it the loved one that we treasure. He walks among the blossoms giving them eternal rest, and I know that it must please Him because He only chose the very best.

On Sunday, June 28, 2020, God picked Frances Harris Rountree as a precious rosebud to add to his Heavenly Garden. She was born on June 16, 1946, in Bear Creek, North Carolina to the late Fermon and Luby Harris.

She received her primary education within the Chatham County School system. Afterward she attended and graduated from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Which reward her a successful 30 year career with NCCU prior to retirement.

Frances accepted Christ into her life at an early age and joined Centennial AME Zion Church. While she was determined to let her work in the church speak for her. She served the church as a secretary and a missionary. She loved the Lord and her work here on earth exemplified her passion to the Lord. Nothing pleased Frances more than serving others; while working with Meals on Wheels and Siler City Council of Aging.

Frances loved her family. She was a devoted mother, supportive grandmother and an adored great-grandmother. Family and friends will remember Frances working in her garden and spending her free time reading and shopping at the local Thrifts shops.

She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Fermon Franklin Harris.

Left to cherish fond and precious memories of her are her husband, Frankie Rountree; a daughter, Anneka (Quenton) Rountree of Prince George, VA; two sons, Michael (Beverly) Burnette of Pittsboro, NC and Ryan (Kimberly) Rountree of Chapel Hill, NC; a special son, Kenric Rountree; six grandchildren, Jaylen (Amber) Rountree, Quenton II, Michia, Aaliyah, Sariah and Alexis; one great-grandchild, Ariel; a beloved sister, Vanessa Wise of Siler City, NC; two brothers, Fletcher Harris and Clyde (Deborah) Harris both of Bear Creek, NC; and her church family, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
