Obituary

Early in the morning on June 30, 2020, an angel was dispatched from heaven to transition another solider home; in the person of Willette Mock Horne. She was born on November 15, 1926 in Thomasville, North Carolina to the late Jessie Mock and Katie Steele Mock. She attended the Davidson County School System.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Vigil Horne. They moved to New York City, New York were she worked as a school crossing guard for over 20 years. She returned back to Thomasville joined Emmanuel Baptist Church family.

Willette will be remembered as the matriarch of the family. Strong willed and straight to the point. You never wondered how she felt, because she said what she meant, and meant what she said. She enjoyed the company of family and friends. Cruising, strolling parks, playing BINGO and cooking was her favorite pastime. Her chicken dumplings and sweet potatoes pies will truly be missed.

Heaven gates waits as Willette joins her parents; husband; three children, Jane Mock, Belinda Lewis and Jeffrey Horne; nine brothers and sisters. She was the last of ten to join them in heaven.

Surviving to cherish precious memories are her two daughters, Drucella Laguda of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Maria Hill of New York, NY, sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grand-children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
