The Obituary
In the evening hours of Friday, July 17, 2020, God dispatched angels to the bedside of His servant, Minister Mazzie Blanding Jordan. She quietly and peacefully joined her husband, Rev. Richard Jordan on the day of this birth to their heavenly home with the Lord.
Minister Jordan was born on May 22, 1937, in Manning South Carolina to the late Haram and Ada Lee Leman Blanding. She received her early education in the public schools of Clarendon County, South Carolina. She was united in Holy matrimony to her love Rev. Richard Jordan. To this union four children were born, Frances, Cynthia, Richard Lee and Gloria. She was employed with Thomasville Furniture Industries and Thayer Coggins where she retired. She was proceeded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
In 1963, she moved to Thomasville, NC and changed membership from St. John Baptist Church to Freewill UME Church, where she worked tirelessly with her husband as First Lady. Min. Jordan was faithful and dedicated to the church until her health failed. She also attended Zion Tabernacle FBH Church with her daughter. Besides being First Lady, she also was president of the Gospel Choir and a member of the Missionary Board, where she traveled and preached in many churches.
She loved her family and her husband for over 50 years, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, devoted sister, friend and church member. Her presence will be missed by all whose life she touched.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Frances Blanding Kess (Roland) of High Point, NC , Gloria Jordan of Winston-Salem, NC and son Richard Jordan of Thomasville, NC and Justin Baldwin of Winston-Salem, NC whom she reared.
