Life and Legacy
Corda LaShawn McLendon McCauley was born on July 21, 1965 to the late Pauline Worthy-Blackwell and the late Walter McLendon in Thomasville, North Carolina. Corda was nicknamed “Whoop” by her father Walter “Buck” McLendon. She departed from her earthly home and transitioned into her heavenly home on August 12, 2020 in West End, NC.
Corda attended Thomasville Senior High School in Thomasville, NC where she received her diploma, graduating with the class of 1983. She later moved to Aberdeen, NC to raise her family. In 2018, she married her childhood friend Anthony B. McCauley; they have celebrated many wonderful years together. Corda attended East Carolina University and UNC Pembroke where she achieved many goals. Over the years, she has received many degrees such as BS in Sociology and Master’s in Social Work (MSW). As a Clinical Therapist she obtained her professional license as LCSW, LCAS-T, and LCAS-A. Her career included areas of serving clients suffering with issues of life, but her passion was substance abuse counseling in groups or individual settings. While being an advocate for alcoholics and narcotics anonymous supporter, she loved her clients, always provided confidential therapeutic care, and cherished every relationship closest to her. Corda’s career ended as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Therapist, LCSW at RHA Health Services in Laurinburg, NC. Corda was a simple woman who loved a simple life. In her spare time, she enjoyed her home time and debriefing from pouring into others. She loved traveling and her favorite place was the beach. Her favorite quote was “Knowledge is gained, not inherited. Thank God for life, I do!”
Corda leaves to cherish her precious memories, her best friend and husband, Anthony B. McCauley of the home, two sons Brannon and Mekalon Richardson, two stepchildren Tamaria and Marissa McCauley, her grandson Jaiden Richardson, mother in-law Mary E.
