Obituary
Robert Lee Clark Sr, was born on August 11, 1937 in Thomasville, North Carolina to the late Willie Clark and Minnie Mae Joyner. Robert was reared by Minnie Mae and Luther Long. Robert departed this life on August 28, 2020.
Robert attended Davidson County School system prior to enlisting into the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for 6 years before returning back to Thomasville, North Carolina. He was employed with Thomasville Furniture Industry (TFI) as a Table TopHot Presser. Robert was also one of the first black Firefighters in Thomasville and he was involved with multiple organizations in the community.
Robert’s spiritual foundation was formed at Central United Methodist Church where he was very active. His ministries include the Methodist Men, Usher, and Trustee. Robert enjoyed his multiple roles within the church. He was also a self-employed Handyman who could repair anything. Robert was the Senior Maintenance Man for Thomasville Church Homes and Trinity Gardens Apartments in Greensboro, North Carolina and his most enjoyable role was delivering meals to the elderly and individuals with disabilities during his time working with the Meals on Wheels of Thomasville.
Robert really enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He would share his God gifted talents with anyone in need. He knew in order to receive a blessing he had to be a blessing. His hobbies where golfing, baseball, softball, and doing cross-word puzzles. Robert also loved talking on his Citizens Band (CB) Radio with the handle name of Swamp Rat. Robert loved to travel all over the country with his recognizable baseball cap or straw hat.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather; his wife, Mildred Hazel Clark; brothers, James Clark and Willie Edward Clark; sisters, Gracie Mathis, Mozelle Smith, and Ethel Mae Douglas.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his son Robert Lee Clark Jr. (Scooter) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, four grandchildren, Seneca Samuels, Christopher Clark, Brittani Clark, Quanya Whitmore; one great granddaughter, Jordyn Clark; his brother, John Long of Thomasville, North Carolina and sister, Gladys Gray of Cleveland, Ohio, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
