Obituary
On June 27, 2021, angels were dispatched to Westchester Manor, High Point, North Carolina to the bedside of Ada Mae Jackson Moss to escort her into her eternal home. “Ada Mae”, as she was affectionately known, was born on April 7, 1944 to the late Joshua and Elmo T. Jackson in Thomasville, North Carolina.
Ada graduated salutatorian from Church Street School in Thomasville, North Carolina on May 31, 1962. She continued her education and received several degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Education from Winston Salem State University on May 31, 1966, and a Master of Science in Education- Early Childhood and a Master of Science in Administration from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
On July 21, 1965, Ada married Edward Keith Moss. To this union one daughter was born, Michelle Renee Moss.
Fulfilling her calling as an educator, Ada taught in the Danville Public School District in Danville, Virginia for several years, prior to moving back to her hometown Thomasville, North Carolina. She joined and retired from Thomasville City Schools in Thomasville, North Carolina. Impacting the lives of many children, she was awarded Teacher of the Year on several occasions.
Ada was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter and one brother, Joshua Jackson, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories three grandchildren, Emrick Melton (Kendra) of South Korea, Shaniya Melton of Cleveland, Ohio and Tavion Johnson of San Diego, California. Three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Katherine (Arthur) Humphries, of Thomasville, NC, Joan Jackson of Bowie, MD, and Jennifer J. (Ronald) Beatty of Euclid, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Patricia (Francis) Reid and Paula Jackson; one honorary daughter, Pam Jones; one son- in-law, Kevin Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
