The Obituary
On Wednesday, July 19, 1944, God released an angel named Betty Jean Dean Pegues to begin her earthly journey. She was born to the late Fisher and the late Mary Dean in Wadesboro, North Carolina.
Betty received her education from Anson county school system. Afterward Betty moved to Thomasville, NC and worked as a sander for Thomasville Furniture Industry for several years. She met and married the love of her life Benny Pegues Sr., and from this incredible union seven children were born. After the children were born Betty changed her career and became a stay at home Mom!
Betty was an amazing woman with many names: wife, mother, sister, friend, cousin, but the one name that everyone knew was “Mickey.” Mickey was a homebody, she loved to stay at home and watch her favorite soap operas: General Hospital, All My Children, and the Young and the Restless. Occasionally she enjoyed playing BINGO! She was very close to the matriarchs of her family, Betty cherished those relationships. Staying in touch with people was important to Betty, so much so that she would write letters to her family and friends to let them know that she was always here for them. Betty loved to cook, soul food was her specialty. Her family will miss her dancing to “I’ll Take You There” by The Staple Singers and her legacy of love.
On Sunday, August 1, 2021, Betty departed her earthly life when God whispered to her, “Well done my good and faithful servant, you have fought a great fight, but it is time to come home.”
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bennie Pegues, Sr; one son, Bennie Pegues, Jr.; one grandson, Michael Raper; and two brothers, Jonathan and Sylvester Dean.
She leaves to cherish fond and precious memories to her six children, Jimmy (Valerie) Pegues of Elgin, SC, Reginald Pegues of Thomasville, NC, Christopher (Kenya) Pegues of Cary, NC, Debbie McCoy of Kernersville, NC, Carolyn Mitchell of Thomasville, NC; Barbara Pegues and Debra Pegues both of High Point, NC; one brother, Fisher Dean, Jr., of Oxhill, MD; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
