Obituary

On March 29, 2022, early Tuesday morning God called the name of Mr. Billy Dean Davis, to cease from earthly labor and to come home.

Affectionately known as "Bill" to many he was born to the late: John Harvey and Savannah Louise Hariston Davis, in Rockingham County North Carolina. He attended the Guilford County School System and studied many subjects and trades. Bill took special pride in every task that he undertook, especially of the latter; as a dedicated member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

On November 18,1979, he was united in holy matrimony to the lovely Laura Darr Davis.

Bill was a man of exceptional natural strength, intelligence and dedication. He was employed with Canada Dry Bottling Company for 35 years; where he became the first Black American route and sales driver in the history of the company. He retired but did not stop working. While still in his prime he worked for Furnitureland South, he trained tractor trailer drivers and helped coordinate the shipping department. He sequentially served 60 locations in the Thomasville area; providing high quality landscaping and mowing services for many years. Briefly after his second retirement he accepted a job at Novant Health Medical Center where he dedicated 10 years of service.

Bill was well respected as a: husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He exemplified qualities and traits for those near and dear to him to follow; firmness, loyalty and fairness. In his pastime, Bill was fun loving; an avid gun collector, enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, sharing knowledge on many subjects especially family history. His witty expressions and humor will be missed but cherished by those who knew him best.

Bill was preceded in death by both parents: one daughter, Valeria “Tina” Baldwin, 2 grandchildren, 4 sisters; Alberta Randleman, Yvonne Jones, Mattie Hargrave and Willie Dalton and 1 brother Earnest Dalton.

Mourning the loss but cherishing his memory are: his dedicated and loving wife of 42 years, Laura Davis of the home; 3 daughters, Dianna Hariston (Johnny), Evg. Barbara Davis, Bertha Gail Davis (dear friend Steven), all of Greensboro NC., 5 sons; William D. Davis, Pastor Jeffrey O. Davis (Jeanette), Ronald “Ronnie” E. Davis (Scharlotte), of Greensboro NC., Ross Foster (Terri) and Richard Foster (Jennifer) both of Archdale NC. a numerous host of grandchildren (29) and great grandchildren (48); 2 sisters, Rose Reynolds of Greensboro NC. and Savannah Gail Simpkins of Philadelphia PA., 3 brothers; Johnny “June” Davis (Carolyn) of Boston MA., Garcia Davis (Beverly) of McLeansville NC. and Ricky Davis of Greensboro NC. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
