Her Journey


LIFE REFLECTIONS: For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight I have finished my course; I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:6-7


Mrs. Burnette Shenise Conyers Wilkes, daughter of the late Eddie & Siller Conyers, Sr. was born May 13, 1949 in Lane, SC. Burnette entered into eternal rest Monday October 12, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Hospital in High Point, NC.


She was truly a woman of God, having accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. Burnette was a dedicated member of Temple Memorial Baptist Church where she faithfully served on the Hospitality Committee, The Voices of Temple, and the Sanctuary Choir. She was also active in the missionary ministry.


Burnette was graduated from C.E. Murray High School in 1966. After High School she moved to NC where she resided until her death. She completed some college courses at Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown, NC. She was employed by Thomasville Furniture Industries and worked in the Chair Assembly Department for 30 years. Burnette later worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant until her retirement, which was a labor of love for her. Burnette also loved quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family.


Burnette was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and Gerome Conyers and one sister, Mary Lee Taylor.


She was joined in holy matrimony to David Ray Wilkes Sr July 30, 1967. To this union three children were born: Tonya (Garrett) Walker, Marcella Buchanan, David (Deon) Wilkes Jr. Others left to cherish her memory include 5 Grandchildren: Tyler Evans, Camryn Wilkes, Christopher Buchanan, Garrett Walker Jr. and Camille Buchanan all of High Point, NC, Two Sisters: Sherian (Jimmy) Robinson of Fairburn, GA, Deloris Canty of Lane, SC, Six Brothers: Eddie (Gracie) Conyers of Greeleyville, SC, Franklyn (Deborah) Lane, SC, Elvis (Sharon) Pearson of High Point, NC, Joseph Keels of Winston Salem, NC, Robert (Wilehemena) McClarin of New Haven, CT, Robert (Deloris) Brown of Lane, SC, Four Brothers in law: Robert (Carolyn) Wilkes of Bluefield, WV, Charles (Charlene) Davis of Lexington, NC, Roy Davis of Thomasville, NC, and Arthur Davis of Greensboro, NC, and Two Sisters in law: Nancy Wilkes of High Point, NC, and Annette (Bernard) Gandy Douglasville, GA a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and other dear friends.
