Obituary
Cleveland “Charlie” Marsh, Jr. was born September 17, 1943 to the late Cleveland Marsh, Sr. and Lula Mae Marsh of Carthage, NC. He departed his life on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Moses H. Cone Hospital, in Greensboro, NC.
Charlie grew up in Ingram Branch Presbyterian Church. After high school, he enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged after the Vietnam War. He received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained during his service to our country during this war. Later, during his service in the National Guard, he was deployed to fight in Desert Storm. In addition to working at the United States Postal Service for over 30 years, he was a licensed barber. Charlie was truly a man of many trades.
Charlie’s presence could easily overtake a room. When you heard him laugh, it would light the entire area. He would often say, “Every day is your birthday, and live everyday as if it were your last.” Charlie was kind-hearted, caring, a hard worker, and to the point. Family and friends were extremely important to him. Charlie had an open-door policy and welcomed everyone with open arms.
He was preceded in death by siblings; Wille Marsh, Terry Marsh, Linda McLaughlin, and Elbertle (Dennis) Marsh.
