The Obituary

Darrell James Skeen was born June 29, 1958 to Elizabeth Skeen and the late James Lang. Darrell was fondly known to many as Pee Wee, Big 10, and Peedie. He received his formal education through Thomasville public school system. Darrell accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. Darrell was a former employee of Southern Veneer for decades.

In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, and cutting up with his crazy stories and jokes. Darrell loved his family and his family loved him. Darrell especially loved his mother whom he affectionately called Big Mama. Darrell and Big Mama talked 3 to 4 times a day every day. Pee Wee will be remembered as fun, loving, and compassionate man.

Whether it was his travels to Germany, El Paso, TX or Fayetteville, NC with his aunt, Darlene or his visits with his father in Baltimore, Md, he always left having a host of new friends. During his stay in Germany, he was awarded for outstanding performance of duty during the USAREUR Board of Directors visit from the 282nd Base Support Battalion (Hohenfels) and the United States Army. Pee Wee will be missed by all.

Darrell departed this earthly life on Friday, December 18th, 2020 in Fayetteville, NC. He was preceded in death by his father, his sister, Ellen, and his grandmother, Ella Mae, who helped reared him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Elizabeth Skeen Mock and step father, Joe Allen Mock, his brother, Kerry (Keri) Rashad of High Point, and his sister, Lillian (Jethro) Butts of Thomasville; two nieces, Ebonie Kersey and Kayla Mock; two nephews, Jalen Kersey and Kyler Mock; his great nephews, Eli Kersey and Jace Craven; his paternal aunts, Gladys (John) Stukes of Thomasville, Margie Bagby of Mt. Vernon, NY, Geraldine (Henry) Johnson of Richmond, VA; his maternal aunts, N.
