Obituary

On October 28, 2021, our Lord and Savior whispered into David Andrews’ ear, “you have fought a good fight , you have finished your course, you have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness….

David was born on June 18, 1955, in Pinewood, South Carolina to the late Joseph Andrews, Jr. and the late Alice Lang Andrews. He received his early education from the Sumter county school system. As a young man his family relocated to Thomasville, North Carolina where he gained employment with the City of Thomasville in the lawn care department. In 2010, David retired after 34 years of cutting grass on his tractor.

David was fondly called “Shorty” by his family and friends. He was a people person, willing to give you anything. He was a faithful member of Christian Fellowship Word of God in High Point, NC under the leadership of Pastor Susan Burgess. He was a devoted member of Witness for Christ and of the Deacon Board, he also played the drums.

David will be remembered for his loved for the Lord, which he shared with all. When David was not spreading the gospel, he would enjoy cruising in his red car throughout town. Sitting on the bench at Food Lion greeting people was a daily activity. He also enjoyed fishing, encouraging others especially his nieces and nephews whom he deeply loved.

David joins his parents, two sisters, Alberta Durant and Eleanora Andrews and brother, Bobby Andrews in heaven.

David leaves his memories to his four sisters, Isabelle (Cokely) Clark of Philadelphia, PA, Josephine Canty Boyd , Ruby (Alfonso) Billie and Linda James all of Thomasville, NC; two brothers, Charlie (Emma) Andrews and Jimmie (MaryAnn) Andrews both of Thomasville, NC ; his nieces and nephews, two spiritual brothers, Deacon Johnny Kennedy and Rev. Bosby Bosby; one brother-in-law, James Durant and several cousins and other relatives and friends.
