Obituary

On Thursday, January 31, 1935, God released an angel named Doris Stevenson Pratt to begin her earthly journey. She was born to the late Todd Stevenson and Lessie Tuttle in Thomasville, North Carolina. To enhance heaven, God quietly called Doris home on Sunday, December 4, 2022.

Doris attended the Davidson County school systems, she graduated from Church Street school in 1952. After graduating from school she entered the work force and worked and retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries as a sander. While living her life Doris met and married the love of her life Sylvester “Edward” Pratt and from this wonderful union three children were born, Christopher, Glenn and Karen Pratt.

Deeply planted in her faith Doris was a faithful servant to her church and to her Lord and Savior. She was a devoted member of Brown New Calvary Church, Doris was a part of several boards within the church. She was a member of the choir, usher board, and she was a Sunday School teacher. Doris loved the Lord and treasured being in the Lord’s house.

Humble, genuine, loyal, friendly and loving are just a few adjectives to describe Doris. She was a good person who loved to be outside with her plants and flowers. When she wasn’t outside she was sipping her coffee and watching her stories. Doris was very creative, she liked to spray paint and do arts and crafts in her free time. She adored her family and friends, her loved ones will remember her smile, her cheerful spirit and home cooking.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two sons, Glenn and Christopher Pratt; two brothers, Franklin Cannon and Raymond Bradley. One close friend, Josephine Williams and a special friend, Joe Lewis Stevenson.

She leaves to cherish fond and precious memories to her daughter, Karen Pratt of Thomasville, NC; five grandchildren; Shaunte’ Pratt of Frederickson, WA, Chadijah Pratt-Ashford of Raleigh, NC, Khadisah Mouton of Federal Way, WA, Christopher and Nakira Baxter both of Thomasville NC; a great-granddaughter, Aja Austin of Spanaway, WA; one sister, Barbara Stevenson of Charlotte, NC; three step-sisters, Rita Tate, Charlotte Cannon-Allen and Dana Cannon all of Thomasville, NC; five sisters-in-law, Marie Pratt of Morven, NC, Dorothy Cash of High Point, NC, Garletha (Johnny) Pratt of Lilesville, NC, Delores (Larry) Walton of Charlotte, NC and Marlene (Leon) Merriman of Morven, NC; an honorary daughter-in-law, Denise Parks-Hopper of Spanaway, WA; several close friends, Pauline Lyons, Catherine Kersey, Wincey Mathis and Delma Thompson, Gwen Baxter, Ada Lyles, Margaret Abrams, Faye Cole, Beatrice and Julia Stevenson and other relatives and friends.
