“There is a season for everything”
A time to be born: Hazel Lee Rice Holt, 76, was born February 28, 1944. The daughter of the late Foster and Lucinda McCracken Rice. She was the youngest of 5 siblings and raised in a God fearing home. She was a woman of God, passionate about her faith and her love for her Savior!
A time to live: Ms. Hazel, as she was affectionately known by, was a 1962 valedictorian of Church Street High School. She was a hard working woman who loved to cook and shop online! When she resided in Pennsylvania she loved to sit on her front porch and talk to Ms. Vinny. She was rooted and grounded in her ties with her family! Hazel was a member of Brown New Calvary’s Church and a lead soloist.
A time to work: Hazel was employed by Lucent Technology/Agere for 40 years in Reading, PA.
A time to embrace: She was a loving and dutifully wife, a nurturing and loving mother to her sons; Stephan (Diahann) of Walkertown, NC and James, Jr. (Vanessa) of Thomasville, NC. Also, a doting and loving grandmother to her grandsons Jayvier and Jabez Holt who she absolutely adored, and her grandchildren through marriage, Jaden, Taron, T’aira and Cordell Williams.
A time to love: Hazel was married to the love of her life James Holt, Sr. She loved, nurtured and nursed him till his passing in 2012.
A time to embrace friendships: Hazel had a special friendship with Ms. Woody and Ms. Nadine of Thomasville, NC. When she resided in Pennsylvania she has a special friendship with Mrs. Sarah Jackson (deceased). Also, she had a special relationship with her niece Adrian Banks and with her cousin Frank McCracken
A time to take God’s hand: Hazel answered God’s call on December 11, 2020. She studied God’s word to show herself approved and she loved praising the Lord! Well done thy good and faithful servant! Hazel is predeceased by her parents, her brother, John Rice and sisters, Laura Gilliam, Thelma Brown and Louise Thorton
