Obituary
Joe Floyd Medley was born on September 14, 1950, to the late Mary Ann Boggan and the late Joe Cleveland Medley in Monroe, North Carolina.
Joe was educated in the Union County and Davidson County school system graduating with the Class of 1968, from Church Street School in Thomasville, North Carolina. Shortly after graduating from high school he moved to Winston Salem, North Carolina. Where he worked for the City of Winston Salem for many years.
Joe was married to the late Gwen Gathings Medley. To this union two daughters was born, Teresia Medley and Y’Londa Medley. He instilled and enlightened his daughters about their beauty and was instrumental in helping them realize their self worth. Family and friends were very important to him.
Joe was very influential in teaching the younger ones in the family about their history. He loved to embrace his heritage. He was a man who will be remembered for his good provision, love and care for his family. The Medley family will always be grateful for that.
Joe enjoyed the company of a small circle of friends; he loved to laugh. Family and friends will always remember Joe’s favorite meals as fish and ox tails.
Joe transitioned into his heavenly home on August 3, 2021, where he was greeted with open arms by his parents, wife and grand-daughter, Taylor Medley.
Joe is survived by his two daughters, Teresia (Roger) Medley Smith and Y’Londa Medley Jackson, one brother Kevin Medley, two grandchildren, Mahoganie Medley Pagan and Matthew Medley, four great grandchildren, Faith Amaya Williams, Kelsie Pagan, Kelise Pagan and Cherish Medley and a host of other relatives and friends.
