Obituary


Linda Luckey Burgess was born on September 6, 1967, to Claudie Scott and the late Annie Lou Luckey McKinzie in Elliott, South Carolina. On July 25, 2021, God dispatched angels to receive Linda into Heaven.


Linda received her early education from Lee County school system in South Carolina. She graduated with the class of 1985 from Mount Pleasant High School. Shortly after high school Linda relocated to Thomasville, North Carolina. She worked for Thomasville Furniture Industry, prior to Davidson County Health Department as Vital Statistic Specialist.


Planted in her faith Linda joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member. Linda will be remembered for her loyalty for others, especially for her family. Her children, grand-children and siblings could attest to her dedication. She instilled manners and respect to all, her favorite saying was “Manners and respect will take you where money want!” Linda’s hobbies were SHOPPING, traveling, walking and dancing, and doing crossword puzzles. Her details of excellence and her COOKING will be truly be missed.


Linda was preceded in death by her mother, and one brother, Christopher Luckey.

Leaving to cherish her memories is her husband of 23 years, James Burgess of the home; six children: Jamoderick (Meyakka) Luckey and Camilla (Dianta) Morrison both of Thomasville, NC; Javone (Benique) Wilson of Fayetteville, NC, Latrice Burgess and James Burgess, Jr. both of Warner Robins, Georgia and Ronta (Sierra) Burgess of Biloxi, MS; one brother, Leronda (Michelle) Luckey; one sister, Judy (Anthony) Fleming of Elliott, SC, her step-father, Oli McKeinze and a host other relatives and friends.
